I have spent many an evening to this point speaking to fathers. I want to speak to my children today. I want to impart knowledge to you that I have gained as a father, and as a person on this earth during a miniscule thirty-seven years. I pray all who read it can gain something positive from it as well.

I can't tell you how many times my wife and I have picked up our phone to Google something as a parent.
From converting milliliters to tablespoons for medicine or looking up advice on how to handle a certain situation or phase, I would argue its at least weekly.
Many times, however, we do it out of instinct when we already know the answer. Perhaps we are simply looking for validation of our gut or just making sure we are truly making the best choice for our children.
Either way, I cannot imagine parenting without it.
My hats off to you Mom & Dad!

Additional thought: Could you imagine having to plan a route (and perhaps alternate route) with a map to the hospital for your laboring wife without Google Maps real-time traffic data??

I remember the first time I held my son. The connection was not instant.
I remember my first thought being "what do I do now?". Then looking around the delivery room for the adult to take over, only to realize that that's me now.
For me it took a couple of days.
It took soothing my son to sleep a few times to build my confidence and to prove to myself that I could do this.
It took him sleeping on my chest. Skin to skin contact.
No matter what it takes for you, just know the feeling of connection, bond, joy, and love will come.
And oh the joy it brings.
