There have been plenty moments and opportunities in my life where the only valuable knowledge derived from the experience was that I never wanted to do that again.
You never know until you try.
One summer in high school, I thought it would be fun to be a waiter, so I got a job at a local Italian place. From the beginning, I was a poor fit. Some tables were a joy to talk to and interact with, but most were not. I finished out the summer with valuable knowledge that I didn't want to be in the service industry. Additionally, I also gained a much greater respect for the role and am now much more generous in how I interact and tip!
I never would have known if I didn't try.
Last note, just because you are good at something doesn't mean you enjoy it. It may make a suitable career but don't settle for something that doesn't bring you joy and fulfillment.
The best job is one you love and enjoy that also fulfills a need in the world. We don't all get so lucky, but its worth shooting for.
You never know until you try.

It is important for our children to recognize the importance of our job as caretakers of our earth. It is hard to launch into the seemingly endless void of solving the entire earth's problems. I find it better, and more logistically possible to start in your micro cycle.
Use this idea, and launch from there. Operate as a family unit, find an area of your town and make it better. Be safe, be smart, and have some fun while trying to make a small difference.

The Measure of a Man is a wonderful resource book for any Christian man. For both new Christians or those who have been Christ followers for most of their life, The Measure of a Man dives deep into the words of Paul to define God's desire of mature men.
